44% of Ukrainian refugees were able to get a job in Estonia

In Estonia, 44% of Ukrainian refugees between the ages of 20 and 64 were able to find work. At the same time, Ukrainians have proven themselves well on the labor market. This is evidenced by the data of the Ministry of Social Affairs of Estonia, reports ERR.

It is noted that the share of Ukrainian refugees employed in Estonia is significantly higher than the average for the European Union (30%).
At the same time, the ministry notes that the high level of education of refugees does not guarantee them a job corresponding to their qualifications. The problem lies in the insufficient knowledge of the language and the lack of opportunities to look after children while parents are at work.
At the same time, the labor activity of the majority of Ukrainian refugees has been going on for more than two hundred days.

Among Ukrainian refugees who received temporary protection, the age group from 35 to 39 had the highest employment rate.
From February 2022 to the end of March 2023, more than 127,000 Ukrainian refugees crossed the Estonian border, 58,000 of them transited to another destination.
Currently, more than 40,000 people receive temporary protection in Estonia, and 58% of them are of working age.
