The fire started on September 12 on the territory of the Omsktransmash plant, which produces tanks and heavy flamethrower systems. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that they received a report of the fire at 12:55 local time.

“On the territory of the enterprise, during the repair of the roof by a contractor, a local fire of the roofing material occurred. This incident did not affect the production process. There were no casualties. The EMERCOM forces that arrived at the site are completing the work to extinguish the fire,” the press service of the enterprise reported.

Since 2022, the Omsk plant is under international sanctions of all countries of the European Union, the USA, Japan, Canada, Ukraine and Switzerland.
- On August 26, a fire broke out at the Omsk Oil Refinery (Refinery). Rostechnadzor named the explosion of the gas-air mixture as the reason. One employee of the plant was killed, six were injured.
- Since the beginning of 2024, Russian refineries in the European part of the country have been regularly attacked by Ukrainian drones. At some plants, primary oil processing units failed and required repair. From Omsk to the border with Ukraine – more than 2 thousand kilometers. So far, there is no evidence that the fire at the tank factory is in any way related to the drone attack or sabotage.
