A former mercenary of PMC “Wagner” was sentenced in Khakassia to 8 years for murder
The court in Khakassia found private Andrey Ashcheulov guilty of premeditated murder and sentenced him to eight years in a penal colony. This was reported by the press service of the Second Eastern District Military Court. Ashcheulov was previously the leader of the so-called Kuragin organized crime group, and then a mercenary of PMC “Wagner” and a participant in the war in Ukraine.
According to the Abakan Garrison Military Court, in May 2024 Ashcheulov, being intoxicated, shot a local resident in the head with his hunting rifle. The cause of dissatisfaction was the victim’s remark about how Ashcheulov parked the car.
Ashcheulov killed 50-year-old Anatoly Khokhlov in rural Bolshaya Irba, relatives of the victim told Sibir.Realii. He was riding by on a bicycle and made a remark about the car. Ashcheulov, without saying anything, shot.
- It was previously reported that in 2019, Andrey Ashcheulov, a resident of Kuragino district center, was sentenced to 18 years and 2 months in a special regime colony for 11 episodes of extortion, robbery, beatings, carjacking, as well as for threatening a journalist from Abakan, Mikhail Afanasyev.
- Ashcheulov received a pardon, took part in hostilities in Ukraine as part of the PMC “Wagner”. After returning from the front, he lived in the village of Bolshaya Irba, where he came from.
