In the Kyiv region, the police detained five people who are suspected of bullying and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl. Four of them are minors, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports. All those detained under the procedural guidance of the juvenile prosecutors of the Fastiv district prosecutor’s office were informed of the suspicion of having committed acts of a sexual nature (Part 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The investigation established that the crime took place when the girl came to visit her two friends aged 15 and 17. As Iryna Pryanishnikova, spokeswoman for the Kyiv region police, told “UP.Zhyttia”, under the influence of alcohol, the perpetrators undressed and began to use force on the girl, after which they put her on the bed. Both the victim and the five detainees knew each other well, because they were friends and “were in the same company,” adds the police spokeswoman. After the violence she experienced, the girl did not immediately, but still dared to tell her mother about everything, who turned to the law enforcement officers. “That’s why they weren’t detained immediately,” Pryanishnikova adds. On May 19, the law enforcement officers searched the apartment where the crime took place and collected physical evidence indicating the rape of the child. “We cannot name the motive (of the crime – ed.) at the moment, because the pre-trial investigation is ongoing. But we understand that the child was bullied and abused. This is extreme cruelty, especially on the part of the girls. They committed a serious crime against the smallest among them,” – emphasized the spokeswoman of the Kyiv region police. Five criminals were detained by law enforcement officers in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. They are currently in a temporary detention facility. For what they have committed, they face up to 15 years in prison. According to Iryna Pryanishnikova, psychologists are currently working with the injured 11-year-old girl. “What the girl went through is very scary. But it’s good that she still told about the commission of the crime, did not hide it, but gave the law enforcement agencies an opportunity to punish the perpetrators of the terrible crime,” the spokeswoman of the Kyiv region police emphasized.
