In the village of Mlynivtsi in the Ternopil region, the police detained a man suspected of damaging the graves of Ukrainian defenders.

The event happened in the morning of September 27. Around 08:20, local residents noticed that an unknown man was ripping state flags from graves and throwing away crosses at the cemetery. People immediately informed the police.
Police found 11 damaged graves of servicemen on the spot. The suspect, a 44-year-old resident of Ternopil district, was detained. Currently, the law enforcement officers are trying to find out what exactly motivated him to such actions.
According to the fact of the event, the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (insulting graves or burial places). This is punishable by up to five years of imprisonment.
Also, as part of the investigation, it is planned to appoint a psychiatric examination to determine the mental state of the suspect.
