A railway worker in the Amur Region was given 13 years on the charge of treason

The court found the resident of the Amur region guilty of treason and sentenced him to 13 years of imprisonment in a high-security colony. This was reported by “Interfax” with reference to the regional office of the FSB. The identity of the defendant is not disclosed.

In 2023, a criminal case against a resident of the village of Magdagachi, who worked in a railway locomotive depot, was initiated under the article of treason in the form of providing financial assistance to a foreign state directed against the security of Russia.

The FSB claims that the investigation established that the defendant made 15 money transfers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, allegedly intended for the purchase of “kamikaze drones, quadrocopters, ammunition, military equipment.”

  • After the start of a full-scale war against Ukraine, agents of the Ukrainian special services began to be searched for in every region of Russia. 2023 became a record year for cases of treason in the entire history of modern Russia. The number of cases under articles of treason almost doubled in an hour, and in ten years – almost 10 times, the human rights project “First Department” analyzed the judicial practice.
  • The FSB regularly detains Russians, claiming that they were going to go over to the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces or financed them. The FSB also regularly initiates cases of treason or espionage against Ukrainians fleeing the war or ethnic Ukrainians living in Russia.
