A court in Ukraine sentenced a resident of Lviv to life imprisonment with confiscation of property for collaborationism. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine. According to the indictment, the Lviv man was recruited by the Russian special services. On the territory of the region, he fixed the locations of military facilities and critical infrastructure and transmitted their coordinates to the Russian side.

In addition, he informed the Russian side about the results of the shelling and the damage caused to Ukrainian objects in order to correct the subsequent strikes. He communicated with “customers” through Internet messengers.

In December 2022, it was reported that the Ukrainian police alone opened more than 2,200 criminal proceedings under the article about collaboration. There are no general statistics on such crimes.

The article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on treason, according to which suspects of collaborationism are tried, suggests the possibility of punishment up to life imprisonment.
