An American B-52 strategic bomber capable of carrying nuclear weapons flew to the northwestern border of Russia approximately 210 kilometers from St. Petersburg. He was accompanied by Polish fighters. The Russian army, apparently, did not manage to intercept the ego.

The plane took off from the airfield in Poland, flew over the Baltic Sea, turned towards St. Petersburg near the Estonian island of Saaremaa. Minister of Defense of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak wrote on Twitter that the bomber was accompanied by Polish fighters. The Russian Air Force apparently failed to intercept it. In case of successful detection, NATO bombers are usually accompanied by Russian fighters. This time it did not happen.

The press service of the Western Military District told “Moscow Komsomol” that the air defense forces on duty would be raised if the B-52 flew “at a critical distance to the borders.”
