At least 30 employees of the city hospital were detained in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, law enforcement officers detained 36 employees of St. Petersburg City Hospital No. 20 in a case of grand larceny. This is reported by TASS.

Among those detained are the head of the personnel department, the chief accountant, deputy chief physicians for economics and surgery, as well as a lawyer-consultant, writes “Fontanka”. What status they are in is not specified. The hospital is headed by Tatiana Surovtseva, co-chair of the ONF (All-Russian People’s Front).

According to the investigation, over the past three years, an organized group of people stole about one billion rubles from the OMS fund under the guise of paying fictitious hospital employees.

According to the SC, the fraudulent scheme was organized as follows: the hospital hired dozens of fictitious employees — as drivers, registrars, computer operators, and cleaners. They were relatives and acquaintances of real employees of the hospital. The salaries of fictitious employees were significantly inflated, but the money did not go to them, but to the organizers and accomplices of the scheme.

They spent the received funds on luxury real estate, cars and trips to expensive resorts, “Mash na Moika” claims.

Before the arrest, security forces simultaneously searched dozens of residents of St. Petersburg, Leno Oblast, Moscow, and Moscow Region connected with the medical facility. In total, they came to 50 addresses — to places of residence and hospital facilities. “Rotonda” notes that the search also took place in the administration of the Moscow district of St. Petersburg.

A criminal case was initiated under the article on fraud in person on a large scale. The maximum punishment for it is up to ten years of imprisonment.
