Azerbaijan is going to increase the volume of gas exports to European countries, in order to supply at least 20 billion cubic meters by 2027.

This was stated by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during the Azerbaijani-Lithuanian business forum in Vilnius, “European Truth” reports with reference to the press service of the President of Azerbaijan.

Aliyev recalled that in July of last year, the European Commission and Azerbaijan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic partnership in the energy sector.

“On the basis of this memorandum, we have to double our natural gas supplies to Europe by 2027.

In 2021, our natural gas supplies to Europe amounted to 8 billion cubic meters, this year this figure will be equal to 12 billion cubic meters, and by 2027, I think (it will be. – Redyu) 20 billion cubic meters, and I believe that this is the minimum, so that there is potential,” Aliyev said.

He emphasized that the country is extracting more natural gas from existing fields and very soon will announce an important production at one of the large Caspian fields.

“Azerbaijan, as a reliable supplier to Europe, today exports oil, natural gas, and electricity.

We plan to export hydrogen, in particular “green” hydrogen, all this is part of the joint strategic framework of our cooperation with the European Union, and we are grateful to our Lithuanian friends and partners for their constant support of Azerbaijan’s efforts and the European Commission’s efforts aimed at rapprochement,” Aliyev said. .

In September of last year, Aliyev announced about the country’s intentions to double capacity The TANAP trans-Anatolian gas pipeline, which supplies gas to Europe via Turkey, will be doubled to 32 billion cubic meters.

The length of the TANAP pipeline is designed to transport Azerbaijani gas from the Shah Deniz field from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western borders of Turkey.
