Cancer patients will be able to undergo radiation therapy free of charge in Feofania

In 2023, cancer patients can undergo radiation therapy for free at Feofania Clinical Hospital. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine continued the operation of the pilot project under which Feofania will provide services under the Medical Guarantee Program. This was reported by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnyk. As explained to “Ukrainian Pravda. Life” in the National Health Service, this year the Cabinet of Ministers allowed “Feofania” to conclude a contract with the National Health Service for the package “radiological treatment and support of patients with oncological diseases in inpatient and outpatient settings.” Also, the hospital will continue to provide free services to patients with acute strokes and heart attacks. Last year, the hospital received more than UAH 21 million from the National Health Service: more than UAH 9 million for medical assistance in heart attacks and more than UAH 12 million for treatment of strokes. As reported in Feofania, from January to August 2022, the specialists of the medical facility treated 267 patients with acute stroke and 206 patients with acute myocardial infarction under the Medical Guarantee Program. “The contract with the NHSHU means that any patient, regardless of where he lives or where he is registered, can receive medical care in the specified areas at Feofania free of charge. The goal of the transformation of the health care system is to create a single medical space. All “Medical institutions in Ukraine must work according to uniform rules and be accessible to patients. And patients have the right to choose any hospital in the country for treatment,” the National Health Service explains. The public organization “Athens. Women Against Cancer” approves the fact that now cancer patients will be able to undergo radiation therapy for free in one more medical facility. After all, there are often queues for this procedure. “It’s wonderful that ordinary cancer patients will be able to receive free medical services, namely radiological treatment, in the hospital, which has treated people’s deputies and state officials free of charge for decades,” says the co-founder of the organization Viktoria Romanyuk. Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko promised to open “Feofania”, which mainly treated civil servants, “for ordinary people” at the end of 2021. As the minister noted, this was supposed to allow people with heart attacks, strokes who are brought by ambulance and, possibly, patients with other diagnoses, to be hospitalized at Feofania. Previously, the “Feofania” clinic was subordinate to the State Administration of Affairs.
