The famous Russian journalist, president of the National Association of Television and Radio Broadcasters Eduard Sagalaev died at the age of 76.

Sagalaev was born on October 3, 1946 in Samarkand. In 1967, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Samarkand University.

Since 1975, Sagalaev began working on television. He was the deputy editor-in-chief of programs for youth of the Central Television of the USSR, the editor-in-chief of programs for youth of All-Union Radio.

From the end of 1988 to 1990, Sagalaev worked as the chief information editor of the Central Television of the USSR, in particular, the “Time” program. As a presenter, he first appeared in the program “12th Floor”, and then hosted the weekly program “Sem dnei”.

In 1990, he headed the Fourth Program of the Central Television of the USSR.

Since 1991, Sagalaev held managerial positions at VGTRK. He was the president of the Moscow Independent Broadcasting Corporation (TV-6).

For almost 30 years — since 1995 — Sagalaev was the president of the National Association of Television and Radio Broadcasters.

Sagalaev was awarded the Russian Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” IV and III degrees. In 2018, Mrs. Sagalaev was awarded the title of Honored Journalist of Russia.
