Finland will allocate an additional EUR 29 million in aid to Ukraine

Finland will provide Ukraine with an additional 29 million euros in humanitarian aid and development cooperation support.
This was reported by the country’s Foreign Ministry on Friday, writes “Evropeyska Pravda”.
“In order to alleviate people’s suffering and help Ukraine in the midst of war, Finland will allocate 15 million euros for humanitarian aid and 14 million euros for cooperation in the field of development,” the message said.
“We must fight war fatigue. To cope with this crisis, people need food, shelter and medicine, and children need to go to school. We must also remember that our support must help Ukraine recover from the war,” he commented. Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Wille Skinnari.
EUR 5 million in humanitarian aid to Finland will be provided through the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, which supports food security, medical services and emergency housing, as well as the work of local civil society organizations.
5.4 million euros will be provided through two other important partners for Finland in Ukraine – the World Food Program and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Part of the humanitarian aid comes through Finnish civil society organizations.
14 million euros have been allocated for additional support of the World Bank project “Public expenditure on the sustainability of administrative potential”, which provides Ukraine with funds to pay teachers’ salaries.
The €29 million provided is part of additional funding of €70 million that the government has allocated to help Ukraine in 2022.
In addition, 37 million euros have been reserved for 2023 to support Ukraine through development cooperation. Thus, Ukraine will become Finland’s largest partner state in the field of development cooperation.
In February, Finland announced the transfer of three of its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, intended for demining.
