Georgia commented on the news about the start of sea freight transportation to Novorossiysk

The Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia commented on the announcement of the start of regular cargo transportation on the sea route between the Russian city of Novorossiysk and Batumi.

About this, as written “European truth“, reports “Echo of the Caucasus”.

Earlier in Armenia, it was announced that cargo transportation by sea has begun between Russia and Georgia along the Novorossiysk-Batumi-Novorossiysk route.

The Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia confirmed that there were indeed two flights on the specified route in April. However, in Tbilisi they say that cargo transportation is irregular and commercial.

“The Palau-flagged ship Haci Musa Ucak (IMO 9128544) did indeed make two commercial flights between Novorossiysk and Batumi in April. We would like to emphasize that this is an irregular flight that is completely commercial in nature,” the department said, adding that similar flights are carried out systematically.

According to the information of the Georgian agency, the company that owns the specified ship is not included in the sanctions list, it plans to continue to perform commercial flights.

“As for the cargo, it is in transit and destined for the Republic of Armenia. The Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, in cooperation with the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, constantly inspects both ships and shipowners for international sanctions. Accordingly, if a ship or a shipowner is on the sanctions list, he are not allowed to enter the ports of Georgia and carry out the relevant procedures,” the statement said.

We will remind, in recent days Georgia allowed three airlines to operate direct flights to the Russian Federation, in particular, by serving flights to annexed Crimea. The first flights already took place on May 10 and 20.
