Google analyzed five stages of Russia’s cyber operations against Ukraine

Head of Voice of America broadcasting in Eastern Europe Myroslava Gongadze will receive the Inamori Ethics Prize 2023 from the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence at Case Western University, the center announced on Wednesday, February 15.

The private university’s Inamori Ethics Prize, located in Cleveland, Ohio, aims to “honor outstanding international ethical leaders whose actions and influence have significantly improved the human condition.”

“It is a great honor for me to receive this award,” said Gongadze. “I’ve seen so much in my journalistic career, but I’m always very happy to know that my native Ukraine has access to reliable news and information through Voice of America, a media organization that demonstrates the importance of a free press every day.”

A lawyer by training and now an experienced broadcaster and multi-award winning journalist, Myroslava Gongadze started working at VOA Ukraine in 2004 and later became the head of the service from 2015 to 2022, before assuming her current position as head of broadcasting in the Eastern Europe. In 2019, she was a Nieman Foundation Fellow at Harvard University where she studied disinformation, and prior to that she was a Reagan-Fussell Democracy Fellow at George Washington University.

Throughout her career, she has regularly interviewed senior US and Ukrainian government officials, and she moderated Ukraine’s first post-Maidan election campaign national television debate in 2014. Gongadze’s articles were published in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Journal of Democracy and numerous Ukrainian publications.

“Congratulations to Miroslava on being awarded the Inamori Ethics Prize,” said acting director of “Voice of America” ​​Yolanda Lopez. – I am very pleased to see the recognition of her many years of work, which gives our audience in Ukraine unimpeded access to news and information.”

Gongadze will receive the award at an official ceremony at the Inamori International Center in the fall, where she will give a public lecture and participate in a scientific conference and panel discussion on September 21 and 22.
