GUR claims that a Russian colonel was killed in the Moscow region
The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine claims that on September 27, in the city of Kolomna in the Moscow region, the colonel of the Russian army, Aleksey Kolomeytsev, was killed. The special service reports that the 51-year-old officer headed the 924th State Center of Unmanned Aviation of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and participated in the training of Russian specialists in the use of Shahedov and other UAVs. It is claimed that he is “directly involved in the full-scale invasion and war crimes of Russia against Ukraine.” Also published is a photograph of a presumably dead man whose face is blurred.
The Ukrainian mass media, citing sources in the GUR, write that the murder of Kolomeytsev was “the result of a special operation carried out by the local movement of resistance to the Kremlin regime in cooperation with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.” The official message of the State Government does not say about this.
Radio Liberty cannot confirm the reliability of these messages from independent sources. The Russian Ministry of Defense and other departments did not comment on the message, and Russian pro-military bloggers did not write about the alleged death of Kolomeytsev.
Colonel Fedorko is listed as the head of the 924th center on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. Kolomeytsev is also mentioned there and called a lieutenant colonel. The center itself recently came under US and UK sanctions.
