Member of the Committee on National Security and Defense of the Verkhovna Rada, People’s Deputy Fedir Venislavskyi confirmed that after 50 years only those with deficient military accounting specialties will be mobilized. This happens according to separate orders from the General Staff.
This is the “general position of the military leadership”, told he LIGA.net.
The People’s Deputy confirmed that there is a provision in the directive of the Ground Forces Command that limits the mobilization of men aged 50-60.
However, until the age of 60, they still remain conscripted, Venislavskyi noted in a commentary for “UP. Life”.
“Units actually refuse to take conscripts over the age of 50. If they do not have an important military accounting specialty, there is no point in their mobilization now.
But this does not mean that it is fixed at the legislative level that they will not be mobilized. All men aged 18 to 60 remain conscripted. The decision on mobilization is made by the General Staff, taking into account the needs.” – remarked the People’s Deputy.
Venislavskyi adds that in practice “the number of such mobilized people is minimal.” After all, the vast majority of military units are stormtroopers, and after 50 years “few citizens are suitable for stormtroopers.”
Also the network rumors spread about the impossibility of mobilizing the limited fit between the ages of 18 and 25.
“In the first reading, the Verkhovna Rada supported the draft law prohibiting the mobilization of men of limited fitness under the age of 25. There is no sense in it now. The military also understands this. Therefore, according to my information, such cases (mobilization of men of limited fitness aged 18-25 – ed.) did not record”, he added.
Former People’s Deputies of “European Solidarity” Iryna Gerashchenko and Oleksiy Honcharenko reportedthat the Ministry of Defense can probably issue an order on the impossibility of mobilizing “limitedly fit” men under the age of 25.
And also about the suspension of the draft of men aged 50 to 60 without a special order from the General Staff.
The Command of the Ground Forces confirmed that they had settled “some issues regarding the draft.”
On the other hand, they did not specify which changes are in question and which categories of conscripts or reservists they apply to.
