He can walk again: in Lviv, doctors save the 8-year-old son of a fallen soldier

Lviv medics are treating the son of a dead soldier. 8-year-old Yevhen was diagnosed with a rare pathology – an arteriovenous malformation in the lower thoracic region of the spinal cord. In that place, the arteries and veins entwined in an irregular tangle and pressed vital parts of the brain, the First Medical Association of Lviv says. An arteriovenous malformation is a tangled, dilated blood vessel in which the arteries flow directly into the veins. According to the doctors, due to the illness, the boy was in danger of hemorrhaging at any moment. Eugene could not walk on his own. A week after the operation, the family had to return to the Rivne region. Zhenya can walk independently again,” the medical facility writes. It is known that Zhenya’s father, Dmytro, was a combat commander. The man died in September 2022 near Maryinka, Donetsk region.
