Police officers exposed a former employee of the National Cancer Institute (NIR) for embezzlement of state property and abuse of official position. The perpetrator took medical products and computer equipment into storage, but during the inspection, the law enforcement officers found that some of the goods were missing, the National Police wrote. In 2019, the director of the hospital and the suspect concluded an agreement on full financial responsibility for the company’s property. Subsequently, the offender had the idea of ​​squandering the property entrusted to him. In total, the man caused 10 million 421 thousand hryvnias of property damage to the hospital. According to investigators, the offender is a 48-year-old resident of the capital. As noted by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the court seized the suspect’s property in order to compensate the damage caused to the state. Also, in order to protect the interests of the state, a civil lawsuit was filed against the accused. Currently, the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed and the indictment has been sent to the court for consideration of the merits of the case. The figure faces deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years and with confiscation of property.
