A 62-year-old man who committed domestic violence against his ex-wife will be tried in Kyiv. The suspect has been hiding from the investigation in the Chernihiv region for several months, Kyiv police reports. “Thanks to cooperation with local law enforcement officers, the person involved was informed of the suspicion, and the materials of the criminal proceedings with the indictment were sent to the Desnyan district court,” law enforcement officers say. Last year, the regular part of the Desnyan police department received reports from an elderly woman that her ex-husband was committing psychological and physical domestic violence against her. Law enforcement officers have started a pre-trial investigation under Art. 126 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – domestic violence. However, the Kyivan did not appear when summoned by the investigator. During the cooperation of the employees of the prevention department and the criminal police, the wanted man was found in the Chernihiv region, where he was hiding with relatives. The other day, police officers from one of the villages of the Novgorod-Siverskyi district handed over a wanted man to the police. Metropolitan investigators informed the man about the suspicion. Then the indictment against the perpetrator was sent to the Desnyansky court. The offender faces arrest for a term of up to 6 months or restriction of freedom for a term of up to 2 years, if the court finds him guilty.
