How the results of studying abroad will be counted in Ukraine – explains the head of the Ministry of Education and Culture

The results of studies of children studying abroad due to Russia’s military aggression will be counted in Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi. Ukrainian schools are recommended to take into account the results of success in those subjects that are duplicated in foreign and Ukrainian educational institutions. This will be possible if there is a certificate from the institution where the child studied outside of Ukraine. And for such subjects as Ukrainian language, literature and history of Ukraine, students will have to additionally pass an online assessment and receive an annual assessment. For students of grades 5-8 and 10, it can be conducted even in the format of a 2-point scale, that is, the teacher will indicate whether they passed the exam or not. Children who are abroad and study in online Ukrainian schools will be able to receive a certificate of educational attainment for this year. If the child completed full-time only at an institution outside of Ukraine, his certificate will also be recognized. “Enrollment in schools after returning to Ukraine is carried out at the request of one of the parents, guardians or legal representatives. The child is enrolled in the same school where he studied before, or in another (chosen by the parents),” the Ministry of Education and Culture said. We would like to remind you that Ukrainian refugees abroad have the right to continue their studies at their school online, to join distance learning at another school, to get an education by individual or home form of education, to study externally or to study face-to-face at a local school.
