Two criminal cases were initiated against the human rights defender: on the articles on the public justification of terrorism and the organization of activities of a terrorist organization. The reason for the prosecution was six posts on Khamroev’s personal Facebook page, in which FSB officers saw support for the activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization. And the organization of activities of a terrorist organization was considered, in particular, a report on political persecution, mourning and petitions to the courts – including the ECHR.

But his persecution became an important tool for the FSB to put pressure on “Memorial”. of the criminal case of Bahrom in March 2022, the FSB searched the offices of “Memorial”, the Center for the Protection of Human Rights “Memorial” stated.
