In 10 days, Ukraine did not produce 200 million worth of electricity: why

Over the past 10 days, Ukraine has limited electricity generation by UAH 200 million due to a surplus in the energy system that cannot be exported.

This is stated in articles EP.

Currently, there is a surplus in the energy system, i.e. more electricity inside the country than is needed by all consumers. It is observed every day at separate hours.

However, instead of export, these volumes are “poured into the ground”: “Generation restrictions are applied every day, due to which tens of millions of hryvnias are lost. In the last 10 days alone, it is more than 200 million hryvnias,” said the interlocutor of the EP in the government.

On the scale of the month, we are talking about the loss of tens of millions of dollars, which could have been spent on restoring the energy system after Russian shelling, maintaining low tariffs for the population, and preparing energy companies for the next heating season.

Although there are still outages in some regions of Ukraine, they are due to equipment damage. Repairs at such facilities continue around the clock, and as soon as there is an opportunity to deliver electricity to consumers, it is done immediately.

However, blackouts in Ukraine occurred even before the Great War, for example, due to the repair of networks or substations, a change of transformer or damage to a power transmission line due to bad weather. As the interlocutor in the parliament told the EP, the issue of export today is exclusively political, because there is a technical possibility.
