In Cherkasy region, law enforcement officers detained a 19-year-old local resident who is suspected of raping a 12-year-old girl in a forest plantation near Kanev. The boy was discovered thanks to a quadcopter, the Cherkasy Oblast police reports. According to the police, on March 2, a boy attacked a 12-year-old girl who was returning home from the store. The girl’s mother contacted the police and law enforcement officers began searching. “The 19-year-old intruder was found in a forest lane, where he was hiding from the police. The search was helped by military personnel who raised a quadrocopter into the air,” the report says. The detainee is currently in custody. The boy faces eight to fifteen years in prison.
