In Khmelnytskyi region, an intruder tied a pregnant cow to a tractor, dragged it along the ground and raped it. The crime was committed in the village of Antonina, the animal welfare organization UAnimals and the police of Khmelnytskyi region reported. “A local group posted a photo of an animal lying in the middle of a field and unable to get up – they say, maybe someone is looking for it. When the owners found the animal, it turned out that it had numerous injuries,” animal rights activists say. Also, the animal’s teeth were knocked out, so it cannot eat, but only drinks warm water. “We are shocked by this story and will do everything possible to help the animal and punish the culprits. We have already contacted the owners of the cow and will pay for its treatment,” UAnimals said. The owner of the cow, Lyudmila, told UP. Life that the animal was pregnant and was due to calve in a month and a half. After the abuse, the cow’s milk “burned out”, but she has not lost the calf so far. “Her state of health is unchanged. Yesterday she got worse and the inflammatory process continues. All the necessary medical procedures are being carried out for her – she is on anti-inflammatory therapy. She wants to eat, but she can’t, because two teeth are knocked out, two are loose. She drinks a lot, but because of her teeth she can’t drink cold water. She’s standing in the barn, lying down hard, not milking. In a month and a half, she was supposed to calve – the calf is alive and moving,” says the woman. The owners of the cow and animal rights activists wrote several statements to the police – and the law enforcement officers found the suspect. “Yesterday he was detained and interrogated. He says that when he is intoxicated, he wants to do this to animals. He cannot control himself, it is not the first time he has done this in his village – not in the same settlement where we live “, says Lyudmila. The woman demands a fair punishment for the criminal. “We just want him to be punished fairly. How can such a person live in society? He is a danger to others,” says the animal’s owner. The law enforcement officers have already opened criminal proceedings on the fact of animal cruelty. The information was entered into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations pursuant to Part 1 of Art. 299 (Cruel treatment of animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, law enforcement officers are working to find out all the circumstances of the incident.
