In Kyiv, two men were detained, who are suspected of selling falsified drugs for the treatment of oncology. Counterfeit medicines were sold through the Internet and a pharmacy, the Main Directorate of the Kyiv Police reports. The law enforcement officers detained two men, aged 56 and 30, who sold oncology drugs without Ukrainian labeling through medical websites on the Internet and a pharmacy owned by one of them. The price of one package of the drug is 46,500 hryvnias. The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reported that counterfeit medicines were brought to Ukraine from abroad, after which the men sold them in Kyiv and other cities. “According to the results of the examination of samples of the drug by the manufacturer, it was established that it is falsified. In addition, the expert’s conclusion confirmed that the packaging of the drug does not correspond to the sample of the original medicinal product,” the prosecutor’s office wrote. During the searches, a significant amount of drugs of Russian and Belarusian production, which were withdrawn from sale on the territory of Ukraine, were found on the detainees. The men were detained under an article about the falsification of medicinal products. The sanction of the article provides up to ten years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years and confiscation of property.
