In April 2023, part of a man’s hand was cut off at one of the capital’s mattress manufacturing enterprises. Its management will be tried for violation of safety rules, which caused serious injuries.
The incident happened when the worker was cleaning the mechanisms of the combing machine, reported in the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
“While cleaning the machine, the man began to rub the shafts on the working mechanism with a brush, and at some point the shaft of the combing machine caught the brush and pulled it together with the victim’s right hand between the shafts, which caused serious injuries. The machine cut off part of the man’s hand.”– it was noted there.
In a comment for “UP. Life”, the representative of the prosecutor’s office of the city of Kyiv, Iryna Vynokurova, reported that as a result of the injury, the man “lost 70% of his ability to work.”
The pre-trial investigation testified that the management did not properly monitor whether the production workers followed the rules for handling the devices.
“Employees undergo certain training on working with particularly dangerous machinery. This should be supervised by the management. Judging by the case file, these people were not familiar with how to work with these machines.”– explained Iryna Vynokurova.
Now the law enforcement officers have informed the 35-year-old production director of the suspicion of violation of safety rules during the performance of work with increased danger – Part 2 of Art. 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
He faces punishment in the form of restriction or deprivation of liberty, as well as a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in activities for a period of up to three years.
We will remind, at the end of July in Kyiv found the body of a boy who fell into the Dnipro River as a result of a cable car breaking. Law enforcement officers have launched an investigation due to violations of security rules and official negligence.
