In Moscow, a student was arrested for 5 days for the cover of a book about Nazism

In Moscow, a history student who was reading a book of memories of an SS officer in the subway was arrested for five days. Passengers drew attention to the photo of an officer in a Nazi uniform on the cover and released the police. The student was accused of publicly displaying extremist symbols.

As reported by the “Ostrozhno, Novosti” channel, Vladimir P., a third-year student at the Moscow State Regional University, was reading the book “Black March” by Peter Neuman. The book tells about service in the SS during World War II. On the cover is a black-and-white photograph of an officer in an SS uniform. The SS emblem on the officer’s helmet is not censored.

Vladimir himself declared in court that he did not share the ideas of Nazism, and read the book as a historical source. Nevertheless, the court sentenced him to five days of administrative arrest, and ordered that the book be destroyed.

• “Black March” is a literary adaptation of Neumann’s diaries, first published after the war in France. The postwar fate of Neumann himself is unknown, however, despite the fact that the book belongs to fiction, it is known as evidence of Nazi atrocities. It has been translated into many languages ​​and published in many countries, including Russia.
