In the Belgorod Region, the border is guarded by untrained conscripts

The border of Russia and Ukraine in the Belgorod region can be guarded by conscript soldiers who have undergone almost no training. Mothers of conscripts told about this publication “7×7: Horizontal Russia”.

Earlier, a pro-Kremlin blogger and military correspondent of Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper Alexander Kots, commenting on the sabotage in the Belgorod region, also reported that the Graivoron border crossing was guarded by conscript soldiers at the time of the invasion.

One of the soldier’s mothers said that her conscript son was sent to the border, although he had not even learned to shoot a machine gun. According to her, at the meeting with the assistant military prosecutor of Belgorod, Denys Mikheev, he stated that the soldiers have walkie-talkies, and their task is to contact the command and call for reinforcements in the event of an emergency.

Mothers also claim that conscript soldiers are assigned military specialties for which they are not prepared. For example, one of them was enrolled in military medicine, although he did not have even minimal medical training.

The publication states that the command of the Western Military District has confirmed that conscripts “perform tasks aimed at strengthening and protecting the state border”, but they are not involved in hostilities in Ukraine.

Relatives reported several deaths of conscript soldiers on the Russian side of the border as a result of shelling.

• On May 22, several units of armored vehicles entered the territory of the Belgorod region through the Graivoron border crossing. They fired at the checkpoint on the border and passed through several villages in the direction of the district center of Grayvoron. Local authorities reported that as a result of shelling, eight local residents were injured, two of whom died. A regime of counter-terrorist operations was announced in the district, and the population was evacuated. The next day, according to the Ministry of Defense, some of the saboteurs were destroyed, and the rest were “squeezed out into the territory of Ukraine.”
• The Legion “Freedom of Russia” and the “Russian Volunteer Corps” took responsibility. These units consist of Russian citizens fighting on the side of Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities confirmed this information.
• The Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk regions bordering Ukraine are subject to regular rocket fire. The Russian authorities accuse the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian side does not comment on the shelling.
