In one of the schools in the village of Balagansk in the Irkutsk region, an eighth-grade student reportedly attacked his classmates with a hammer. At least three schoolchildren were injured. This is reported by Baza. The messages are also confirmed by TASS with reference to law enforcement agencies. The agency does not name the number of victims.
According to preliminary data, the attack occurred during a break before a physical education class. A schoolboy broke into the locker room with a hammer and attacked his classmates. It is claimed that a physical education teacher was able to stop him. The attacker was detained, the victims were helped, it is said that there is no threat to their lives. The press service of the State Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region stated that “the motives of the teenager’s surrender are being investigated” and emphasized that he had not previously undergone a preventive check-up.
This is the second such attack in Russia in the past week. On September 16, a 13-year-old schoolboy in Chelyabinsk attacked students and teachers with a hammer and a knife. Then four people were injured. It was reported that the attacker was registered and was subsequently placed in a psychiatric hospital.
