Independence Day is valued more than the New Year: how the attitude of Ukrainians to holidays has changed. Poll

The holidays that Ukrainians treat with the greatest love and respect are Easter (Easter) and Christmas (70%). The Independence Day of Ukraine (63%) and the Day of Defenders (54%) are no less important for citizens, and sometimes even more so than religious holidays. This is evidenced by the survey results of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology. At the same time, only 2% of surveyed Ukrainians generally do not regard any official holidays as important or favorite. According to sociologists, the popularity of International Women’s Day on March 8 has decreased from 34% to 25% over the past two years. Almost last on the list of Ukrainians’ favorite holidays this year are Constitution Day (29%) and Trinity Day (22%). Victory Day (May 9) and Labor Day (May 1) became the least popular holidays – only 13% and 5% of Ukrainians, respectively, consider these dates favorite or important. The survey was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) from February 14 to 22, 2023. It was attended by 2,002 respondents living in all regions of Ukraine (except for temporarily occupied Crimea, certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions; the survey was also not conducted with citizens who left abroad after February 24, 2022), aged 18 and over. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.4%. We will remind you that the level of vitality of Ukrainians has hardly changed during the year of the war.
