On the official page of the Harry Potter films, there was an announcement about the search for actors for the new series. Casting for the role of the main character is currently underway Harry Potter and his friends – Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

The series is planned to be shown on TV screens in 2026.

The creators of the series are restarting the universe and therefore are looking for child actors for the main roles, who will be of age in April 2025 from 9 to 11 years. The main condition is that the child must live in Great Britain or Ireland.

Apart from age and place of residence, there are no restrictions on actors. However, it is not guaranteed that the characters in the serial adaptation will resemble the characters of the original films.

“We strive for inclusive, diverse casting. For each role, submit qualified performers regardless of ethnicity, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other characteristic protected by law, unless otherwise specified“, – they warn in the announcement of the casting.

The TV channel and streaming service HBO will be involved in the production. As the executive director of HBO & Max Content previously stated Casey Bloysin the new project they will make high-quality adaptations of books: “This new Max Original series will take a deep dive into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy all these years“.

What do they want to make the new series about Harry Potter

In the spring of 2023, at a press conference of Warner Bros. first announced the return of the boy wizard Harry Potter to the screens. Then the author of the original books was named the executive producer – Joan Rowling.

According to the idea of ​​the team, each season of the series should be dedicated to a separate book from the series. However, the executive director of HBO & Max Content, Casey Bloys, called the creation of the adaptation a “10-year project”, which did not coincide with the idea of ​​​​filming seven books.

The actors of the previous films are not planned to be involved in the filming of the new series.

In the British media, it was assumed that the new film universe will include a reboot of the prequel to the story about Harry Potter – “Fantastic Beasts”. But the management of Warner Bros. denied this information.
