Why the Publishers’ Forum will be held without the main fair

Previously, the program director of the Forum of Publishers, Sofia Chelyak, published a post in which she talked about the reasons for the cancellation of the large book fair.

She noted that the funding of the festival since the beginning of the full-scale invasion took place through grant projects: “For two years we were financed by wonderful partners with whom we were already a team, so to speak, but their priorities changed. And since April, I wrote dozens of requests and applications, which were rejected or accepted for a little while“.

Funds were provided for individual projects, not for supporting the institution. That is why the event had to be reformatted. Several organizations are still holding back funding.

“We had to abandon the fair for two reasons: at the place where it was held, there are now some structures filled in concrete, and the other reason is that we did not find enough funds to finance it“, said the program director.
