The activists of “Memorial” were searched in Perm, and their personal belongings were confiscated. Activists were taken away for questioning. This is reported by the anti-war Telegram channel “Perm 36.6” with reference to the former head of the organization’s local branch, Robert Latypov.

It is not yet clear what the search was about: the protocols, according to Latypov, were not given to the detainees.

Yesterday it became known that a criminal case for the rehabilitation of Nazism was initiated against the employees of the human rights society “Memorial”. The names of the suspects have not been released.

The case was opened at the request of “Veterans of Russia”. They allegedly found in the list of victims of Stalin’s repressions, which was compiled by “Memorial”, about 20 families convicted of collaboration with Hitler’s Germany during the war.

  • In December 2021, the “Memorial” society was liquidated by the decision of the Moscow City Court. Human rights defenders were accused of violating the law on foreign agents. “Memorial”, in turn, called the actions of the Russian authorities politically motivated and disproportionate. The “Memorial” team continues its human rights activities without a legal entity.
