More than 120 thousand residents of Yevpatoria were left without water due to the accident

In Evpatoria, there was an accident on the main water supply, as a result of which more than 120 thousand people were left without water. This is reported by RIA “Novosti” with reference to the Ministry of Information of the annexed Crimea.

In the city, classes in schools and kindergartens are suspended, the authorities promise to organize water delivery.

Later it became known that an accident also occurred on the central water supply system of Krasnoperekopsk – as a result, the water supply of the city itself, as well as nearby villages, was limited.

The Russian head of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, said that the emergency and restoration work on the water supply in Yevpatoria and Krasnoperekopsk will be completed by the end of today.

“It is planned to fully repair the Yevpatoria section of the waterworks next year. This will help avoid the recurrence of similar situations,” Aksyonov wrote in his Telegram channel.

  • Until 2014, Ukraine supplied up to 85% of Crimea’s fresh water needs through the North Crimean Canal, which connects the main channel of the Dnieper with the peninsula. Supplies stopped after the annexation of Crimea by Russia. In 2020, the situation with water supply in Crimea became critical, in a number of cities, water began to be supplied to homes according to the schedule.
