Not a single school is open: how do children study in occupied Severodonetsk

In the temporarily occupied Severodonetsk in the Luhansk region, the Russians were unable to organize an educational process. Instead, children come to school once a week to receive assignments. In this format, students have been practicing since the beginning of the school year, the Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported. Since the beginning of the school year, no school has been open in the city, and children meet with the teacher for a few minutes a week. “Throughout the school year, children come to school once a week, receive assignments on paper, complete them at home and return them to the teacher for checking,” the report says. The military administration also says that it is impossible to transfer children to distance learning, because there is no Internet connection in the city. “The invaders did not fix the cable Internet in Severodonetsk, and the quality of the mobile phone was not sufficient for training. Although it has not been in the city for several weeks. And for the last few days you have not been able to call there, because everything has been disconnected due to the fight with the partisans,” – writes OVA. It will be recalled that Severodonetsk is under occupation for the second time. The Russians occupied the territory for the first time in April 2014. After launching a full-scale invasion in June 2022, the enemy captured the city for the second time. We previously reported that more than 11,000 school-age children remain in the temporarily occupied Mariupol. The Mariupol City Council also showed how the occupiers “restored” the educational process – lessons are not held in classrooms, but in corridors.
