Outbreak of hepatitis A: in Vinnytsia, the number of cases has increased to 276

In Vinnytsia, the number of reports on viral hepatitis A has increased to 276. 243 cases have been laboratory confirmed.
Data as of the evening of November 3, reports the Vinnytsia Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Currently, 54 patients remain in hospitals.
According to the Department of Health Care and Rehabilitation of Vinnytsia Oblast, a total of 338 beds have been allocated in the region for patients with infectious diseases.

In the region, 586 people were vaccinated against viral hepatitis A, of which:
- 538 medical workers;
- and 48 contact persons, including 6 children.
An outbreak of the disease has not yet been detected, the state institution reports.

In particular, drinking water is checked for the presence of an infectious agent.
“For the period from October 17 to November 3, 2023, by specialists of the State University “Vinnytsia Center for Medical Education of the Ministry of Health“ 331 water samples were taken for laboratory research. As of November 3, 2023, 112 samples were selected for PCR testing for viral hepatitis A. According to the results, they meet the requirements of the State sanitary standards“, the institution added.
Medical monitoring of contact persons in household circles is also carried out.
They have already examined 66 people who were in contact with the patients, and 3 of them were found to have M immunoglobulins to the hepatitis A virus, i.e. antibodies.
In order to stop the spread of the infection, specialists conduct laboratory examinations of the “Pryvokzalnyi-1”, “Pryvokzalniy-2”, “Vishenka”, “Urozhai”, “Tsentralnyi” shopping markets, and the “Mir” shopping center.
“All results are negative“, the “Vinnytsia Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” noted.
They added that 8 washings from vegetables and fruits were taken from the markets for sanitary and virological research using the PCR method. Hepatitis A virus was not detected on them.

We previously reported that 11 people, including five children, were hospitalized in Zakarpattia with a diagnosis of hepatitis A.
One case of hepatitis A was recorded in the Ternopil region.
In Ivano-Frankivsk region, the chief sanitary doctor Ruslan Savchuk denied that an outbreak of hepatitis A was recorded in the region, which was reported by the mass media the day before.
