Pardoned for participating in the war was convicted of a new murder
Alexander Protsky, a 42-year-old resident of the Tomsk region, previously convicted of murder and pardoned for participating in the war against Ukraine, was convicted of a new murder. The Asinovsky district court found him guilty of premeditated murder – the appointed term is not specified in the case file. Sibir.Realii editors found out that in 2013, Protsky was found guilty of second-degree murder and burglary.
According to the appeal filed by relatives of the deceased, in 2012, Protsky stabbed his roommate with a knife, and then called two friends to steal the deceased’s belongings. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison, and a separate theft case was sent to the court for a new trial.
In June 2014, Protsky was also convicted by the Asinovsky court for a series of thefts, carjacking, assault and threatening to kill. TV2 was the first to report this sentence.
Less than 10 years later, a photo of Protsky in the uniform of the PMC “Wagner” with medals “For courage”, “Bakhmutskaya myasorubka” and with an award cross from the PMC appeared on the social networks of the “People’s Front”. Later, the photo of the Wagnerian was removed from the social networks of the “People’s Front”.
It is known that after being pardoned and participating in the war, Protsky returned to his hometown of Asino, Tomsk Region. On August 13, 2024, the Asinovsky court found Protsky guilty on 4 criminal counts – murder, attempted murder, intentional homicide, and intentional destruction of someone else’s property.
According to the case materials, on January 15, 2024, a resident of the Tomsk village of Prychulymsky reported the disappearance of her 29-year-old son to the police. It turned out that he stopped by to visit Protsky from Asino, who has been tried many times, they quarreled and fought. The owner of the house beat the guest, which is why he died. Then the killer took the body in his car to the Chuly River and hid it in the snow near the shore.
The text of the decision has not yet been published, the appointed sentence is unknown. It is also not known whether Protsky signed a new contract to participate in the war in order to be released early again.
- After the start of the war with Ukraine, Russia regularly releases murderers, rapists, and those convicted of other serious crimes. Relatives of those killed and injured protest, but to no avail.
- This summer, an ex-prisoner, released after being pardoned for participating in the war, was detained on suspicion of murdering a 12-year-old girl. In June 2024, two residents of Primorye, one of whom is 16 years old, reported being raped by the military. Local residents associate the refusal to arrest the suspect and investigate the case with his status as a participant in the war.
