Putin appointed a participant in the invasion of Ukraine as the head of a children’s organization

On September 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed 35-year-old tank major Artur Orlov, a participant in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as the head of the all-Russian children’s organization “Movement of the First”. The decree is published on the website of official legal acts.

Orlov is a military personnel, in 2010 he graduated from a tank school in Kazan. He took part in the Russian military operation in Syria. In 2022, his tank battalion took part in battles in Ukraine.

In the same year, he received the title of Hero of Russia for fighting in the Popasnaya district, a city in the Luhansk region of Ukraine with a pre-war population of 19 thousand people, which was completely destroyed as a result of the Russian invasion. Now Orlov is reportedly studying at the Academy of the General Staff.

“Movement of the First” was created in December 2022. According to the authorities, it should actually revive the Soviet pioneer organization.

The former chairman of the board of “Movement First” Hryhoriy Gurov was appointed the head of Rosmolodyozh, a federal body that manages Russian youth policy, on Saturday.
