Details: It is reported that after the start of the war in Ukraine, Turkey closed the passage for Russian warships through the straits between the Mediterranean and Black seas, but the ban does not apply to auxiliary and merchant vessels.

The publication writes that the ship “Sparta-4” belongs to the Russian company “SK South”, which is under US sanctions.

It is noted that after the earthquake in Turkey and Syria at the beginning of February, the ship delivered humanitarian aid to the Syrian port of Tartus, and later went back to the Russian Federation. The ship entered the Bosphorus on March 1, before that it was accompanied by the Russian Navy missile corvette “Steryegushchii”.

As the publication writes, the ship “quickly and quietly passed through the Bosphorus in the dark of the day”, and its draft indicated that it was heavily loaded.

According to Naval News, the ship may have military equipment on board. A Russian naval base is located in Tartus, Syria.
