In the regions of Russia, schools began to purchase “educational drones” to teach students how to use them. This is reported by “Vazhnye istorii”, which found several similar auctions on the state procurement website.

Journalists found at least five lots for the purchase of drones. Yes, drones are going to buy schools in St. Petersburg. One of them – No. 583 – wants to buy 15 “training UAVs”, the cost of which is at least one million rubles. St. Petersburg School No. 525 plans to buy kits “for self-assembly of quadcopters”, the contract amount is about one million rubles. Both schools participate in events supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In Kaliningrad, school No. 50 of Kaliningrad plans to purchase an “educational aerial module for the development of UAVs” for 9.4 million rubles. Also, the institution will spend 5 million rubles on a complex for piloting an unmanned aircraft with the function of aerial photography.

Similar purchases are made by the Maganskaya Secondary School in Yakutsk and Lyceum No. 1 in the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

In April 2023, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, said that drone control courses should be introduced into educational programs, including schools.
