With the help of artificial intelligence, scientists have invented a new method of programming robots that can help people with dementia, for example, find lost items such as medicine, glasses or a phone. It was developed by engineering scientists from the University of Waterloo in Canada, reports SciTechDaily. A team of scientists investigated the capabilities of a mobile robot with a camera through which it can “interact” with the surrounding world. Then, with the help of a video storage function, the scientists programmed the robot to detect, track and store in memory the objects that fall into the field of view of its camera. Next, the researchers developed a special interface on which a person can select an object , which you need to follow. In case the object is lost, the robot is able to report when and where it was last “seen”. In the future, the research team plans to test the system first on healthy people and later on people suffering from dementia.
