The Lesya Ukrainka Prize announced the laureates awarded for literary and artistic works for children and youth in 2022. The winners were named on March 15, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reports. This year, the laureates of the award were chosen in three nominations: literary works, artistic design of books and theatrical performances for children and youth. In the nomination “Literary works for children and youth”, the Lesya Ukrainka prize was awarded to the writer Olesya Mamchich for the book “How to Roar Properly?”. In the category “Art design of books for children and youth” the artist Oksana Sadovenko was awarded for the original art design of the book “You and Malevich”. The prize in the nomination “Theatrical performances for children and youth” was awarded to Iryna Tsypinii, director-producer of the First Academic Ukrainian Theater for Children and Youth in Lviv, for the creation of the play “The Boat Floats”. The prize money for the victory in each of the nominations is 20 thousand hryvnias. We will remind you that the Prize of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine named after Lesya Ukrainka, founded on the initiative of the State Committee of Television and Radio in 2004, is awarded by the Cabinet of Ministers every year on the occasion of Lesya Ukrainka’s birthday. The prize is awarded for works that have received public recognition and contribute to the education of young people “in the spirit of national dignity and spiritual unity.” It will be recalled that earlier in Ukraine the laureates of the Shevchenko Prize of 2023 were announced after the scandal.
