At the end of the “Bookland” festival at VDNG, the organizers announced the number of visitors and the number of books purchased. In particular, with September 26 to 29 73 thousand people attended various thematic events. In the spring of 2024, the festival gathered 68,000 visitors.

The average age of visitors was 31 years. At the same time, “almost every fourth guest” was a schoolboy or student. In addition to Kyiv residents, residents of the Mykolaiv, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, and Vinnytsia regions visited the “Bookland”.
“Most of all, the children who read books while sitting around the fountain in our poufs are the happiest. We can confidently say that we are on the right track.” — said the founder of the festival Evgeny Mushkin.

In total, more than 350 events took place at “Book Country”. According to the organizers, the presentation of the literary critic’s book was the most popular Rostislav Semkiv “How to read Ukrainian classics”, the author’s autograph session came in second place Vasyl Shklyarwhich lasted more than 3 hours. On the third place in terms of popularity — musical and poetic evening “Metaromantika”.
Also at the festival, a national record was set for the simultaneous reading aloud of Stus’s poems. 114 participants joined this interactive.
120 participants were represented at the fair this fall. among them publishing houses, bookstores, libraries, public and charitable organizations.

According to preliminary estimates, about 86,500 books were purchased at the festival.
“Two-thirds of visitors bought at least one book at the festival, spending an average of about UAH 800. At the same time, more than 60% of guests noted that “Book Country” inspired them to read more“, the press service said.

About Book Country
Book country — an open book festival on the territory of the capital VDNG. Organizers gather a wide audience of visitors thanks to the division of the program. So, there were events for children, teenagers, poetry evenings, autograph sessions and military-themed events.
The first festival took place on April 25, 2024, then it lasted three days. Most events are free.
The organizers have already announced that two festivals will be held in 2025: the spring “Bookland” will take place from April 24 to 27, and autumn – September 25-28.
