The case against Navalny went to court. He is charged with seven counts

The Moscow City Court received the materials of a new criminal case against opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Mediazona drew attention to this. The same edition noted that on May 25, the card was updated, and instead of one episode, it now mentions charges brought against Navalny under seven articles of the Criminal Code.
The heaviest of these articles is about the creation of an extremist community. The Russian authorities consider the Anti-Corruption Foundation and Navalny’s headquarters to be such associations. According to this article, a penalty of up to ten years of imprisonment may be threatened.
Navalny is accused of committing a crime under six more articles. These are calls for extremism, the creation of NGOs that encroach on the rights of citizens, the financing of extremism, the involvement of minors in dangerous actions, and the rehabilitation of Nazism. In a separate production, an episode on an article about terrorism is allocated.
It is not yet known when the process will begin.
Navalny is currently serving a 9-year sentence in a colony in the Vladimir region on charges of fraud in connection with the collection of funds to finance his presidential campaign. Navalny himself and his associates consider the case to be political.
As “Mediazona” notes, in the new edition of the card there are articles that blame the former technical director of the YouTube channel “Navalny LIVE” Daniel Kholodny. He is accused of participating in extremist activity and its financing. He is in a pre-trial detention center.
The case will be heard by judge Andrey Suvorov, who previously tried the espionage case of US citizen Paul Whelan. Whelan was found guilty.
A criminal case on extremism against Navalny and his associates was initiated in October last year. A number of members of Navalny’s team, who are now abroad, pass through it as suspects.
