Dmytro Plotnikov, previously convicted of premeditated murder, was released from prison early. After that, he returned to Marina and for two years terrorized the woman, constantly beat her, set the house on fire, broke windows, reported in the public organization “Martin Club”, which accompanied the case.
“She didn’t want him to live with her, but he didn’t care what she thought. When she wouldn’t let him into her home, he would break the windows and set fire to the house. He even threw himself at the police, but they couldn’t do anything with him“, – reported Yulia Szegeda, the defender of the victim.
Marina said that she repeatedly tried to get rid of her roommate, but he kept coming back. When she refused to let him into her home, he vandalized her property. He also repeatedly threatened her with physical violence, and during one of the arguments he said that she would not live to see him return to prison.
Woman appealed to the law enforcement officers more than 30 times.
“Finally, the probation authority did manage to file a motion with the court to revoke his correctional term and send him to serve a prison sentence. Yes, yes, during these two years he received another court sentence with a correctional term.
He constantly told Marina that he would not let her live if he went to prison. And so, three days before the trial, after which he was supposed to go sit, he attacks Marina“, Maryna’s lawyer said.
That time, Dmytro began to threaten not only Marina, but also their daughter.
According to the woman, she grabbed the knife in an attempt to stop the man. During the struggle, Dmytro ran into a knife and died from his injuries. The woman was accused of murder.
The court case against Marina dragged on for more than three years. She was charged under two articles – intentional homicide (Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and murder when exceeding the limits of necessary defense (Article 118 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
On September 9, 2024, he found Maryna innocent of both counts.
