The court arrested a businessman who was responsible for feeding the army in the Far East
The former manager of Voentorg-Vostok canteens, Ramazan Saidov, was arrested on charges of embezzlement when concluding contracts with the Ministry of Defense.
According to “Kommersant”, according to the contract, the company “Voentorg-Vostok” was supposed to provide food for military personnel in Khabarovsk Krai. According to the indictment, Saidov stole food and then sold it. The Investigative Committee estimated the damage at “several million rubles”, which is “particularly large”.
Voentorg-Vostok JSC was established in August 2009 and operates in 16 subjects of Russia.
In 2024, criminal cases were initiated against a number of former and current high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense, as well as businessmen who concluded contracts with the department.
Thus, in April, Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov was arrested in Moscow. He was accused of receiving bribes in the amount of more than a billion rubles from subcontractors. In the case of Ivanov, two businessmen were also arrested – Sergey Borodyn and Alexander Fomin.
In May, the head of the Main Personnel Department of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Yury Kuznetsov (suspected of bribery), the former commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army, Major General Ivan Popov (on charges of large-scale personal fraud), the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, General lieutenant Vadym Shamarin (in the case of receiving a bribe of 36 million rubles), the head of the Department of the Ministry of Defense for ensuring the state defense order Vladimir Verteletsky (in the case of abuse of authority, which caused damage of 70 million rubles).
In the summer, the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Dmitry Bulgakov, who was responsible for logistics, the head of the Russian company “Voentorg” Vladimir Pavlov, the director of the “Patriot” park Vyacheslav Akhmedov and the former Deputy Minister of Defense Pavel Popov were arrested in the summer on charges of large-scale embezzlement and fraud.
In September, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened criminal cases of bribery against the head of the 4924 military representative of the Ministry of Defense, Ivan Populovsky, and his subordinate Grigory Zorin, as well as a criminal case of major fraud against the general director of “ERSM of Siberia” LLC, Roman Bezrukov, who was responsible for the construction of the communications control center for the Ministry of Defense.
