The director of “The Shawshank Redemption” will direct the new season of “Strange Wonders”

Director of the legendary drama “The Shawshank Redemption”, three-time Oscar nominee Frank Darabont returned to business after an 11-year break in his career. He postponed his retirement to film two episodes of the new season of the popular series “Strange Miracles”.

“What really brought me out of retirement is that my wife and I really love this series“, Darabont said in an interview with The Daily Beast.
The director explained that “content right now is filled with horrible people doing horrible things.” “But Stranger Things has so much heart. That positivity is something I really responded to“, he added.

When asked if working on the series would lead to a return to directing, Darabont said: “Who knows I didn’t miss the business, but I missed working on set with creative people“.
Darabont’s last directorial work was episodes of the short-lived drama series “Mafia City” in 2013. He hasn’t made a movie since 2007, when he filmed Stephen King’s horror novel “The Fog”. Among his other famous works are “The Green Mile” and “The Walking Dead”.
About “Strange Miracles”
“Strange Miracles” is a science fiction series created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer. The events of the series take place in the 80s in the small town of Hawkins. The first season of the show was released in 2016, and since the premiere, the series has gained great popularity around the world.

The fifth season of “Strange Wonders”, which will be the last, was filmed this year in Atlanta. Its release on Netflix is scheduled for 2025.
