The EU announced the provision of 5,700 solar panels to Ukraine

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the provision of the first batch of 5,700 solar panels to Ukraine.

This is reported by “European Truth”.

I promised to work with Ukraine on renewable energy sources, important for its energy security.

Now we deliver: a first batch of 5,700 solar panels will be sent to Ukraine soon.

“Russia is deliberately hitting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. We are working with Ukraine to restore power, repairing and restoring damaged infrastructure, and developing renewable energy,” von der Leyen said in a video message posted on Twitter.

She recalled that a month ago, while in Kyiv, announced the initiative provision of solar panels to Ukraine.

“I can now announce that the first batch of solar panels will soon be delivered to Ukraine. ENEL (the largest Italian energy company. – Ed.) is donating 5,700 panels to Ukraine. The solar panels are produced in Europe, in Catania, with the support of the European Innovation Fund,” she explained President of the European Commission.

These panels are able to cover 11,000 square meters of roofs of public buildings, said von der Leyen.

“Therefore, they will provide electricity to schools, hospitals, and fire departments. I am convinced that other European companies, as well as member states, will be inspired by this first step. Therefore, Ukraine will be able to rely on clean electricity produced at home,” she said.

Delivery should take place by the summer of 2023.
