The government has appointed a new deputy minister of environmental protection: who is he?
The government appointed Oleksandr Semenets as Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svitlana Grynchuk.
Prior to that, Oleksandr Semenets worked as the deputy head of the service for economic security, reported in the Ministry of Environment.
He also previously headed the environmental and energy security department of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, and until January 2021 he was in charge of waste management and environmental security in the Ministry of Environment.
“In general, Oleksandr Semenets devoted more than 27 years to the environmental sphere of Ukraine”the ministry says.
According to the platform “Ekopolitika”, Oleksandr Semenets was born in Kyiv. In 1997, he graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of Kyiv National University named after T. Shevchenko, and in 2008 – the Lviv Regional Institute of Public Administration of the National Academy of Public Administration.
Oleksandr Semenets has experience in environmental protection activities related to waste management since 1997. He worked at the State Environmental Inspection, the Ministry of Defense (in the position of chief specialist of the environmental safety department) and the Ministry of the Environment.
